THE HANDBOOK OF GERMAN ART MOUNUMENTS HAMBURG, SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN

BY JOHANNES HABICH, GERMEN ART PRINTING 1971 PETERSDORF, FEHMARN ISLAND, COUNTY EASTHOLSTEIN.

Evangelical church, previously St. Johannes. This impressive structure is a gothic style brick-hall church, which is the result of several additions and changes. The church consists of a four section longhouse (from front to the back of the church and three equal sections wide). The very front of the church has a structure of three equal sides known as (low ships), which was built in the latter part of the 15th century.

The second floor you will find the free standing figure of a bishop blessing under a Baldachims. (your guess). This is the only exciting piece of this particular art in the country.   Also shown is a wooden cross group, built in the last half of the 15th century in the Lubish style. The life size figures of Maria and Johannes and several other carving are in a ascetic style of the 17th century.
