Christina Seivert Maass was born in Holstein, Germany on the Isle of Fehmarn,
March 15, 1841. She was united in marriage to Mathias Maass in 1860.
To this union were born five children, four sons and one daughter. The
daughter and one son predeceased their mother in death as did also her husband
who died August 3, 1913. Mother Maass passed from this life April 4, 1928
at the advanced age of 87 years. She leaves to mourn and miss her
presence, three sons, one sister and other relatives, and many friends.
Mrs. Maass received early religious training in the Lutheran Church of which she
was still a member. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian Church
Saturday afternoon. The Presbyterian choir sang three appropriate hymns.
Interment was made in the Osmond cemetery where this estimable lady wished to be
buried.

CLAUS MAASS DIES SUDDENLY
Wholly unexpected, death due to heart failure this afternoon removed Claus Maass
from the midst of his family and assoicates. Absent from his home only a
short while his wife wondering as to his whereabouts made a search for the
husband and found the lifeless body in a wood shed close by. From all
appearances death had overtaken the man while seated on a chair in the building
and upon opening the door the body lunged forward. A physician was summond
and the examination evidenced death following heart failure.
In reviewing the biography of the deceased we learn that he was born at
Landkirchen on the Isle of Fehmarn, March 4, 1865. On his 16th birthday
Mr. Maass embarked for this country and took up his abode at Denison, Iowa,
where he was employed on the farm until 1890 when he came to Randolf, Nebr.
After a period of two years, he went on his way to the Bloomfield settlement
which was attracting many to that vicinity and after a short wedded life, death
on Dec. 4, 1898 overtook his first wife. In the following year Mr. Maass
married Magdalena Bargholz who, with the one daughter Emma, were living at his
home at the time of his death. After retiring from the farm the now
deceased moved to Bloomfield where he resided 15 years, and leaving there he
lived at Schleswig, Iowa, until 1924 when he moved to Osmond. Mr. Maass
was a retiring nature and life's struggles left him in an indifferent mood.

Arrangements for the burial were made today according to which services will be
held at the Maass home on Friday afternoon at 1:00pm., Rev. Holstein officiating
wereupon the body will be laid to rest by the side of his wife who proceeded him
in death many years ago in the Bloomfield cemetery

John Maas

John Maas former Pierce county farmer, who had lived in retirement at Osmond for
several years, died after a long period of ill health on November 2. He
lived alone in a residence one block east of the Osmond business section.
He was never married.
Funeral services were held at the Stanosheck Funeral Chapel at 2 P.M. Saturday,
November 4, with Dr. H. J. Timmer officiating. Burial was in the Osmond
Cemetery.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Mrs. Emma Herbst, Mrs. Pat Reel, Mrs.
Alvena Nordin, Mrs. Alma Wright, all of Long Beach, Calif., Albert Riessen,
Vallejo, Calif., and Miss Emma Maas, Milwaukee, Wisc.

MATHIAS MAAS DEAD
Mathias Maas, who lived on a farm south of John Turner's died at his home on
last Sunday evening at six o'clock. He was 74 years of age on the 29th of
last July, and paralysis of the heart was the cause of his death. Deceased
was born in Germany in Vitzdorf, Isle of Fehmarn, coming over to this country in
middle life. He is survived by a wife, Christina, three sons, Claus, Henry
and John, and one daughter, Mrs. Daniel Riessen. Interment was in the
Osmond Cemetery.

Agnes Gertrude (Froendt) Meyer

Mrs. H. N. Meyer Rites on April 15
Gertrude Froendt was born Dec. 15, 1869 in Petersdorf, Germany. At the age of
15 years she came to this country with her parents,
who settled at Keystone, Iowa.
On March 5, 1889 she was united in marriage to Henry N. Meyer, and this union
was blessed
with eight children.
The family moved to Lake Park in 1900 to farm west of the lake on the Meyer's
ranch. There they lived for thirty years. When they retired from farming
they moved to Watertown, S. D., where Mr. Meyer passed away in 1935.
Mrs. Meyer passed away at her home in Redlands, Calif., on Saturday, April
10 at age of 76 years, three months and 26 days. The body was flown from
California to Sioux Ciuty, and funeral services were held Thursday, April
15, at the Presbyterian church in Lake Park at 2 p. m.
with Rev. Carl Sinning officiating. A mixed quartet
composed of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Lawrence and Joyce and
William Wunder sang "He Knows It All" and "In The Garden,"
accompanied by Mrs. Frank Rood.
Three sons preceded her in death; Theodore, in 1912, William in 1922, and
Alfred H., in 1947.
The children who are left to mourn the loss of a devoted mother are: Arthur
J. Meyer of Watertown, S. D.; John R. Meyer of Pipestone, Minn.; Louis H.
Meyer of Los Angeles, Calif.: Herman E. Meyer of Brookings, S. D.; and
Selma, Mrs. Henry Brandt Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif. One brother Hans
Froendt of Spirit Lake, Ia., also survives. She also leaves 28
grandchildren, and many other relatives.
The memorials for Mrs. Meyer were sent to the Home for Crippled Children
at Watertown, Wisc.
Burial was beside her husband in Silver Lake cemetery at Lake Park.
Members of the Presbyterian Women's Association served lunch to eighty
relatives and friends in the church dining room after the funeral.

Emma (Jicha) Mildenstein

Emma Mildenstein, 80, Lyle, was born August 29, 1909 at Austin, MN to Frank and
Louisa (Jilek) Jicha. She was Married to Floyd William Mildenstein on August
19, 1931.
Mrs. Mildenstein was a home-maker. She was a member of Bethal Alliance Church
for 45 years. She was also a member of the Lyle American Legion Auxiliary,
Woodbury Willing Workers, Lyle Senior Citizens and Women's Missionary Prayer
Fellowship.
Mrs. Mildenstein died January 15, 1990 at Burr Oak Manor, Austin, MN. Funeral
services were held on January 18, 1990 at Bethel Alliance Church with Rev. Damon
Aukema officiating. Soloist was Betty Haney and organist was Nancy Wellington.
Interment was in Woodbury, Cemetery, Lyle, MN.
Worlien Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Brian Mildenstein, Linda Christensen, Randall Christensen,
James Wallack, Victoria Christensen and Myron Morgan. Honary pallbearer Merwyn
Morgan.
Mrs. Mildenstein is survived by children Mrs. and Mrs. Robert (Janet)
Christensen, Hayfield, MN, Ruth Nelson, Minneapolis, James and Ida Mildenstein,
Albert Lea, MN, David G. MIldenstein, Glenville, MN, Larry D. Mildenstein,
Minneapolis, Steve and Carol Mildenstein, Rochester, Mn.; a Sister Mary Morgan,
Lyle, MN.; 13 grand children and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Louisa (Jilek) Jicha, husband
Floyd, a brother Amos Jicha, two sons Robert and William Mildenstein.

Emma Thortsen Mildenstein

Emma Thortsen Mildenstein are 98, of Burr Oak Manor, Austin, MN died Tuesday
February 25, 1975. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Verna M. Peters,
Austin and Mrs. charles (Dorothea) Mettiott, Phoenix, Arizona; one son Floyd
William Mildenstein, Lyle, MN. 21 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and four
great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Detlof and
Anna (Koenig) Thorsten, her husband Willaim N. Mildenstein and one son Harold
Mildenstein.
Mrs. Mildenstein was born October 2, 1876, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. At
the age of nine she moved from Germany to Port Clinton, Ohio. In young womanhood
she moved to Iowa, where on April 26, 1899, she married William N. Mildenstein
in Hartley, Iowa. In 1912 she and her family moved to a farm northeastof
Brownsdale, MN residing there until 1920. The family moved to Austin, where she
lived until her death except for ten years in Arizona.
She devoted her life to her family and many friends.

Floyd William Mildenstein

Floyd William Mildenstein was born July 13, 1909 in Durant, Iowa. The son of
William N. and Emma (Thortsen) Mildenstein.
He attended school at Brownsdale, MN. On August 16, 1931, he was united in
marriage with Emma Jicha in Austin, MN.
they made their home in Lyle, MN. Mr. Mildenstein ws a contractor and engaged
in farming. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of Lyle Post 105 American
Legion.
Mr. Mildenstein died June 27, 1981, at his home.
surviving are his wife, Emma; two daughters Janet (Robert) Christenson,
Hayfield, MN, Ruth Nelson, Roseville, MN; five sons and daughters-in-law, Jams
and Ida Mildenstein, Thomas Mildenstein, Owatonna, David Mildenstein, Glenville,
MN, Steven and Carol Mildenstein, Rochester MN, Larry Mildenstein, Stillwater,
Mn; 13 grandchildren, a sister and brother-in-law Dr. Dorothea (Charles)
Merriot, Phoenix, AZ.; neices and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents William N. and Emma (Thortsen) Mildenstein,
Austin, MN; two sons Robert and William Mildenstein; a sister Verna Peters; a
brother Harold Mildenstein.
Funeral services were held June 30, 1981, at Bethal Alliance Church, Lyle.
Paster Iam Petitt officiating. Interment was in Woodbury, Cemetery with Worlein
funeral Home, Austin, in charge of arrangements. Doris Kelley and Mrs. William
Haney were singers and Mrs. Dan Pettit, organist. Pallbeearers were Myron
Morgan, Randy Christensen, Dennis Peterson, Loreen Dennison, Laverne Taylor,
William Haney and honorary pallbearer, Mervyn Moran.

Nicolaus Mildenstein

OBITUARY
Nicolaus Mildenstein was born May 20, 1844 in Westermarkelsdorf, Fehmarn,
Germany to Jacob and Catharina (Micheel) Mildenstein and came to America in 1865
and settled in Cedar county, Iowa. He married Caroline Voss on May 8, 1868 in
Davenport and to this union seven children were born, three of which preceded
their father to the other world. In 1894, Mr. Mildenstein and family moved to
O'Brien county and settled on a farm near Hartley, where he lived until nine
years ago and then moved to Hartley.
He has been in poor health for some years and four weeks ago he was confined to
his bed. He died July 17, 1916 at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 27 days,
cancer of the stomach being the cause of his death. He leaves to mourn his
death, his loving wife; two sons, William Mildenstein of Austin, MN., and Edward
Mildenstein of Hartley, IA.; two daughters, Mrs. William (Minnie) Schildt and
Emma Mildenstein, both of Hartley, IA.; one sister, Mrs. Catharina Hagedorn of
Beemer, NE.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents,
three children, two brothers and one sister.
The funeral services were conducted on Thursday at 2:00 o'clock by the Rev. A.
S. Beckmann of the West Evangelical church.
Those here from a distance to attend the funeral were, Mrs. Paustian and Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Mildenstein, all of Gladbrook, IA., and Mrs. Hagedorn, Mr. and Mrs.
Jacob Hagedorn and Emma Mewies, all of Beemer, NE.

William Nicholas Mildenstein

William N. Mildenstein was born September 27, 1876 in Durant, Iowa, the son of
Nicholas and Carolin (Voss) Mildenstein.
He attended school in Durant and in Hartley, Iowa, where he moved in 1893. On
April 26, 1899, he was united in marriage with Emma Thortsen, at Hartley. They
moved to Bownsdale in 1912, where he was engaged in farming and carpentry. In
1923, they moved to Austin.
Mr. Mildenstein died April 4, ath the Vaith Nursing Home after a lingering
illness. Funeral services were held at 2:"30 p.m. April 7, 1957, at the Worlein
Funeral home, Leonard knutson officiating. Interment was Oakwood Cemetery.
Casket bearers were, William D. Mildenstein, Rodney Mildenstein, Hugh Peters,
paul wolcott, Wayne albright, Robert Christenson, grandsons of the deceased.
Mr. Mildenstein is survived by his wife Emma (Thortsen); two sons Harold of West
Concord, MN and Floyd W. of Lyle,MN; two daughters, Mrs. Verna Peters, Austin,
and Mrs. Dorothea Mettiott, Rockford, Ill; 19 grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren.

Hans Mueller Dead
Mr, Hans Mueller residing eight miles north-west
of Grand Island, died yesterday at his home, of Pneumonia aged 77 years, 7
months and 7 days. Deceased was
among the early settlers of this section, having located on his farm in 1870 and
was well and favorably known. The
funeral services will take place tomorrow at noon from his late home, and at 2
o’clock at the cemetery.

Mrs. Anna Mueller, age 70 years and residing seven miles
northwest of Grand Island, of Prairie Creek, died this morning. Deceased was the
mother of the first wife of J. O. Cornelius and also of the first wife of George
Cornelius, both of whom are absent from the city. Funeral will occur at 8 p.m.
Thursday Oct 6th, from late residence. Will reach Grand Island cemetery
about 4 p.m.
