Gertrude Ivers

Council Bluffs (IA) Nonpareil

Mrs. Gertrude M. Ivers, 97, 410 S. 1st St., died Monday at her home following an extended illness.  She was the widow of Frederick W. Ivers who died in 1943.  Mrs. Ivers was born on the Island of Fehmarn, Germany, and came to the United States and Treynor, IA, area when four years old.

At the time of her marriage in 1900 she and her husband moved to a farm near Minden, IA, where they farmed until 1926, then moved to Council Bluffs, IA.  She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and its Women's Guild.

Survivors include a son, Elmer H.. and a daughter, Edna D. both of Council Bluffs; a grandson, C. Fred of Neola and five great granddaughters.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John's United Churchof Christ on Cloverdale Drive with the Rev. Ralph Faisst officiating.  Interment will be at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.

The body may be viewed at the Meyer Funeral Home until 10 a.m. Thursday and at the church after noon.  Memorials are suggested to St. John's United Church of Christ, Jennie Edmundson Hospital or a favorite charity.
