WIESE
Why did I get a hit on this page when I quiried a search for the name
Wiese? To the best of my knowledge my Wiese ancestors arrived in America
from Schleswig Holstein through the port of New Orleans, passing up the
Mississippi to the "Quad Cities" in Iowa, then eventually to Grand
Island, NE. The only given name I know is Heinrich, my great grandfather.
Arrived in the new world around the 1850's
I'm unsure as to any connection to Fehmarn

GIEBELSTEIN
My maiden name was Giebelstein - originally I am from DeWitt, Iowa. My
father was Harry LeRoy Raymond Giebelstein, had a brother Vernon, and I'm not
sure what his father's first name was as (I think) he died when my dad was about
12 years old. This is a real story according to relatives. My dad's
mom was Wilhelmina (Galitz) Giebelstein. To the best of my knowledge, my
grandparent's lived in North Dakota and lost a farm during the depression, they
came back to Scott County Iowa where they rented farm property near the Wapsi
river.
I have only one brother, Richard who lives in Seattle.
My dad died about 11 years ago and would have been 86 now.
I don't know if that helps a lot - there are a lot of things we don't know -
mostly because my granfather (dad's dad) was an alchoholic and didn't work very
much so no one talked about him - my grandma (Minnie) wouldn't even so much as
mention his name.

SASS, LAFRENZ, SCHUTT
Query:
TRYING to put together a family tree. My ggrandfather was Henry Sass son
of Hans and Bertha (Schutt) Sass. Bertha daughter of Heinrich and Maria (Oelberg)
Schutt. Have no idea when they immigrated but they came from the "old
country". Hans is the son of Johann and Chalarna (Speck) Sass, Hans was
born in Durenstedt, Holstein, Germany. Now the hard part Lafrenz Henry
Sass married Lillian Bruhn daughter of James and Meta (Lafrenz) Sass.
Eventually my family settled in Nebraska but I have no idea anything else about
them. Gramps died in 76 so I don't remember much about his family the only
thing I really remember is an OLD clock he had from "his country" and
he always told us we should be proud of who we were and where we came from
because we were "GOOD GERMAN STOCK" I'm hoping someone out there
maybe recognizes any of these names and can help me.
Thank You,
Roberta

BLANKE
Sorry, I do not have dates. A Grete BLANKE, daughter of Heinrich BLANKE, married
on Fehmarn. She was a niece to my grgrandfather Friedrich Wilhelm BLANKE. He was
born 14 Feb 1844 in Mardorf, bei Schneeren, Land Hannover(Niedersachsen).
I was born in Bordenau, Niedersachsen, in 1965, do read the old German script,
and would be glad to order the films from SL, but it looks like the films would
not cover the time frame I need. So I am hoping someone has seen her name...

ARP, ARPE
Hello:
I am looking for ancestors that lived on Gute Wittenberg in Eastern
Holstein which was next Oldenburg and Eutin. I have been doing my research
in Segeberg, Holstein and have hit a dead end with my 5th Greatgrandfather.
His name MARX ARP, ARPE and his wife ELSABE, they lived in Mucheln near
Hasselburg. I have not been able to find a birth date or marriage date for
him. The children of this man and woman were all baptised in Selent and Lebrade.
The marriage records in Selent only go back to 1717. Is there a
possibility that MARX ARPE, ARPE is connected to the ARP name on the island of
Fehmarn or the ARP name of Stein in the Probstei?

Tiedemann, Ehler
Hi,
I am trying to confirm a suspicion that my grgrgr grandfather and mother came
from Fehmarn based on some supposition, and I would welcome any input. I
know that my Tiedemann family members came from Schleswig-Holstein, some in 1851
and some in 1853, and settled in New Holstein, Wisconsin. The family
members I know about are Christian Tiedemann (b. 1789), his wife Anna and their
children Ehler (b. abt 1828), Christian (b. abt. 1830) and Catharina (b. abt.
1835). I am going on a hunch that Anna's maiden name was Ehler. Any
ideas or information about Fehmarn Tiedemanns and Ehlers would be appreciated.

ORTH
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am tracing the family tree of one of the ORTH families which settled in
Wisconsin USA. I am having problems using the usual methods of searching.
The ORTH family I have traced so far goes as such: John Orth
B. unknown. Married to Regina Eisert (mid 1800's) living in Colby, Clark Co.
Wisconsin. Many ORTH families still live in Colby Wisconsin.
John ORTH was father to: Charles Joseph ORTH b. Nov. 11 1890. SS#
01-03-7459. Children: Vernon Franklin, John, Anna, and Conrad ORTH.
Charles ORTH and his wife Frances Schreiber migrated to North Dakota in the
early 1900s. Along with his son Vernon Franklin ORTH b. 4-13-1915.
Vernon Franklin ORTH Married Flora Stephenson in Valley City North Dakota in
1937. Children: Fredrick, David, Mary, Thomas, George, and Stephen Orth.
This branch of the family ended up settling in Seattle Washington because of
World War II.
Vernon Franklin ORTH is the grandfather of my son. Charles Willard Orth b.
8-24-1979.
Any information you could give me would be most helpful. I am interested
in knowing when the our ORTH family came to America. However, I am also
interested in the history of the ORTH family in general.
Any help would be wonderful.
Thank you, Julie
Orth
