BRUNK
We are trying to find any information on BRUNK who lived on Fehmarn. We
have a letter from my father's Aunt Frieda Brunk and she says our cousin, a Dr.
Franz Brunk, lived on Fehmarn. The letter is dated May 1957. In this
letter she also refers to 2 sisters of Max and Albert's father who were killed
when they ran during the war. We do not know where any of these relatives
lived.

RUGE SIEVERS WETHLING SCHEEL HERNAER
Jurgen Hinrich RUGE born 22 Dec. 1863 to Anna Gertrud WETHLING of Danschendorf,
unmarried daughter of Hans Joachim WETHLING. Midwife attending the birth
stated that Hinrich RUGE was the father of the baby.
22 June 1864 Cuno Hinrich RUGE marries Anna Gertrude WETHLING in Danschendorf.
I have copies of the church records for both of the above.
14 July 1866 C.C. RUGE (age 29), Gertrude RUGE (age 27), Henry RUGE (age 3), and
Hans RUGE (no age) immigrate to U.S.A. (I have cc of passenger list).
Can I assume that Cuno Hinrich Ruge is the same person as the Hinrich Ruge named
as Jurgen's father on Jurgen's birth/baptism church record? Thank

ALEX C. THOMSEN

Thomsen and Detleff-Thomsen
Not a query just info to pass along. About 1964 I visited Fehmarn for a day.
Helped by water commissioner Hans Ehler(s) located Isl. historian, Peter Wiepert.
(lost 4 sons in War.) P.W. provided genealogy tables, about 6, of Thomsens
going back to 1653 (I think) which I still have. I am confident these were
derived from records at St. Nichlaus Church where the Thomsens were active,
judging from wall portraits and the 2nd pew on the left had the T's coat-of-arms
on it. I visited a relative, Carsten Thomsen-Detlff and wife Hannelore, have an
elegant farmhouse (&farm) in Vitzdorf which I cannot find any reference to
in the Fehmarn site). Anyway, I'll be glad to share any info that may be of
interest (from the gen. tables. Carsten has in his farmhouse the original
Thomsen coat-of arms , said to be 350 to 450 yeras old.
Carsten & Hannelore I believe travel extensively and about 1975 or so they
visited me in Rochester, NY, bringing with them a duplicate of the original
coat-of arms which I hope will go to my grandson, Peter, of Newport Beach, Ca.
....I'll go on to say that my one & only Fehmarn visit was an astonishing
experience, not from a site-seeing aspect but of the few events that happened
that one day, like looking up the Illner family that lived in an historic old
home near the that very old hotel of which there are pictures. (I do not see the
Illners in any of family groups) I am almost 83 years old and I treasure the
memories of that one day. It was my grandfather, Ludwig Theodore Thomsen, the
youngest of about 8 children that with a brother, name unknown, came to the U.S.
(Galveston) about 1865 while still hardly older than youngsters. He eventually
located in Waco, Texas (where I grew up) He married Lucy Doud(sp?) who bore two
sons, one of which was my father....... I do have one question: I believe that
Fehmarn was once part of DenmarK. Is this true and if so what year did Germany
take control?

Muller
Hello,
According to some family documents, we have a Petersdorf-born ancestor in our
Australian family tree, but don't actually know whether it is the village on
Fehmarn. I'm hoping you can confirm this one way or another. The details we have
are as follows:
Vincent and Rosina Muller, parents of Ernst Wilhelm or Wilhelm Ernst Muller, who
was born 1816/1 and came to Australia probably in 1852. Vincent Muller is
recorded as having been a customs officer in Germany. Ernst Muller's occupation
in Australia was noted as 'gentleman' - maybe he had lots of money if he didn't
need to work! He was married in Germany to Christina (Nerbst?)and fathered at
least three children - Johannes Ernst (Emil?), Ernst August and Amelia Bertha,
maybe also an Emma. In Australia he married twice, again producing three
children by each wife. The last, Emma Gill (Irish origin, she was 22 and he was
72 at the time of marriage)was the mother of Violet Mary who married John
Frederick Lambert who was my husband's grandfather.
There are some vague family myths which associate ships and captains with
Violet's family background, which made me think that the Fehmarn Petersdorf
might be Ernst Muller's birthplace.
I would be grateful if you could help.
With kind regards,
Brigitte (Gallitz) Lambert
